Charlotte Housing Authority Teams With Talent Development & Training Institute

The Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) has partnered with the local JETTI organization, to assist youth grades K-12 in CHA communities with talent development and tutoring. The JETTI organization is a non-profit charity that helps individuals discover his or her talents through an educational process.

Beginning with the CHA communities Victoria Square and Claremont, the JETTI organization is providing on site tutoring and talent development at each location through what is called the TADA Coaching program. The unique academic Talent Coaching will be conducted in one hour sessions twice weekly with each student. The program began on January 25, 2010.

"The TADA Talent Coaching eliminates the negative connotation tutoring often has with students, implying the student has some sort of learning deficiency," states Donna Hughes, CHA Director of Client Services. "Through TADA Talent Coaches, struggling students will learn how to tap into undiscovered talents and use them to excel in the learning process."

The program teaches both students and supporting parents the "7 Success Principles of TADA". The process helps students discover and master the fundamentals of reading, writing, math and science. As students uncover their talents and enjoy learning, their academic achievements will excel. In addition the positive mentoring will enable the students and supporting parents to see a future full of opportunities instead of limitations.

Expected outcomes of the program include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Each child will become very clear in their understanding that they have within themselves the talents needed to succeed at anything they choose and how to use these talents as part of learning in their day to day schooling.
• Each student will become better able to respond to new challenges in a healthy, positive way - that is more demonstratively reflective of their commitment to their personal well being.
• It is expected that we will see an average improvement of two grading levels by the end of the second semester when the TADA Coaching took place (where attendance to sessions was not an obstacle).
• Self confidence and esteem will improve as measured by the student and their parent/guardian.
• Behavior improvement is expected.
• Students will show a marked improvement in their long term outlook and expectation for themselves.
• Parent/guardian will gain new communication tools to assist student in staying on track in their academic talent development.

The TADA program is free to the children and supported through scholarship donations made by local Mecklenburg County citizens and businesses. For more information on the program or to make a tax deductible donation, please contact Rebecca Rhodes at 704-540-3094.

About the Job Exposure, Talent & Training Institute (JETTI)
The JETTI organization is a non-profit charity institute established in 2002 for the purpose of developing an educational process that would provide a highly efficient means of helping people discover their working passions or avocations in life. This avocation is believed to be directly connected to the discovery of one's Passionate Talents Activity (PTA). Based on its 7 years of think tank like research, development, testing and program developments, it's now highly confident it has the strategies to accomplish this. The TADA™ Program initiative is the first step in a long term strategy to reverse what the organization surmises to be a bleak avocation discovery success rate of only 10%. Upon successful implementation of the K-12 TADA Program, vocational talent discovery and development vocational training program initiatives will be implemented.
