Subsidiaries

The Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) operates three legally separate, locally incorporated entities to help further its mission of providing safe, decent and affordable housing. Affordable housing property means real property, the principal component of which is comprised of rental housing that is affordable to households that earn less than 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Horizon Acquisition Corporation

Horizon Acquisition is a for profit subsidiary that was organized in March 2001. CHA has 100% stock ownership. The mission of this organization is to acquire, construct, develop, operate and/ or hold title to affordable housing property, interests in property, and interests in entities that own and operate affordable housing property.

Horizon Development Properties, Inc.

Horizon Development Properties, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt 501 (c)(3) subsidiary that was organized in March 2001. The mission of the organization is to provide affordable housing to all qualified families.

CORE Programs, Inc.

CORE Programs, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt 501 (c)(3) subsidiary. The entity was formerly named Gateway Supportive Services, Inc. and was organized in December 2001. The mission of the organization is to assist affordable (low income) housing residents in achieving economic independence through educational and other support services.
